Biography

Originally from London, Charlie relocated to Brighton in 2023, where he established a home studio to express his creativity. With a background in fine art, his style has evolved significantly over the years, shaped by life drawing sessions and the fast, expressive mark-making that captures movement and energy.

After completing his studies at sixth form college, Charlie attended the Heatherley School of Fine Art for a portfolio course, where he honed his techniques through various classes in life drawing and printmaking. He then pursued interior and product design, eventually culminating in a fine art degree from Kingston University.

Charlie's artistic practice encompasses a broad range of mediums, including watercolours, charcoal, acrylics, photography, screen printing, and collage. Each medium relates to different stages of his creative process. He typically begins by layering materials slowly, drawing imagery from the surface. This therapeutic aspect of his work is particularly significant to him, as it allows for deep personal engagement with the creative process.

When he discards pieces, Charlie transforms them by cutting them up and integrating them into new works, blending colours and shapes to create unexpected results. This approach imbues his art with a structural quality and a sense of limitless possibilities.

His intention is to provide viewers with a sense of depth and three-dimensionality within his work. Through the interplay of vibrant colour puddles, geometric shapes, and a harmonious balance of contrasting techniques and mediums, he invites his audience to experience a dynamic visual narrative.
